Get to know Kat Pappas!

How/why did you get started at KED?

I started as an intern at KED during my senior year of college. I found KED in my freshman year, which made me decide to switch my major from criminal justice to human services. Learning more about KED made me realize that there was so much I wanted to do that did not necessarily relate to a criminal justice degree.  Securing an internship at KED allowed me to make connections with those who had worked here and get to be hired full-time.

What has been the most impactful experience for you during your time at KED?

Our events, working on them as a team behind the scenes and then seeing them not only happen, but them being successful and already able to plan for next year is a great feeling knowing that because of these events, we can continue community outreach and interventions.

What are you most proud of KED accomplishing this past year?

Our growth! Having the internship before being hired allowed me to see a lot more changes than just being hired after college through a normal job posting. I got to see a rather large piece of how we've grown since the end of 2022.

What is something that is on your bucket list?

Travel to Italy, Ireland, and more places in Europe!

What is something that always makes you smile?

Being able to have some time to read whether it is on my Kindle or a physical book. Reading always makes me feel good, even if some of the books I read have made me cry!

What was your dream job as a child?

A lawyer, I was always debating with others and always had something to say about a topic, everyone was sure that's where I'd end up.
