30 Days of Remembrance: Melissa

Melissa Ann Dobiesz. We hear her name and we are filled with so much love and beautiful memories. Melissa was called so many different nicknames by her friends and family she was known as Melis, Miss, Mel, Missy, Dobes. I called her Missy. My sister, my best Friend. She may have went by many different nicknames but we all knew her as the same. She was absolutely fearless. She was strong she was kind hearted and she wanted to save everyone. She had the best laugh it was loud and obnoxious and perfect. When she was tired she would giggle for hours at everything and anything. Missy would laugh so much that it made me laugh and drive me crazy at the same time.

Missy loved the color Pink. When she bought her first car she decked out the interior with the pink fuzzy everything. She picked the brightest pink to paint her bedroom. She was born to be a Princess and everyone knew it! She even had princess tattooed on the back of her neck and she was so proud of it. Missy loved tattoos, piercings and being different. She never cared how anyone looked at her. She was so beautiful, had the Brightest green eyes, Dark hair and her smile made you smile. She was sassy, loud, kind, loving and adventurous.

Missy loved loud music and singing in the car. She loved food, family recipes Mom used to make her and going out to eat. Wherever the food was Missy was. She stood by my Dad while he carved the Thanksgiving turkey just to get the first bite of dark meat. She was the best Mom and gave her son Mason her whole heart. He was her world and she was his. She was made to be a Mom. She devoted everything she could to make sure he was taken care of. She fought with everything she had to stay with us. She had so much life to live. She was the best Mom, Daughter, Cousin, Granddaughter, Friend, Niece, Aunt and the the absolute best Sister. We Remember Melissa in that way, with happy memories as we fill Mason with the love she gave to us all. Melissa Ann Dobiesz, you should be here. We love you. We Miss you.

It was truly an honor to have Melissa part of our lives, even if it was only for a short while. The years that Missy was with us she filled our hearts with memories, love and laughs that will last us a lifetime. Melissa was an amazing mom, a caring daughter, a devoted sister, an adoring granddaughter, a silly cousin, a special niece, and a best friend to many! She meant the world to each and every one of us. She leaves behind a huge family and many friends who will miss her deeply until the day we will see her again. Here are some words from some of the people who miss her most.

I miss my mom. I miss her because she was sweet to me. My favorite part about mommy was she was sweet to me and cared about me. I love my mom. -Mason, Melissa’s Son

I miss your smile, your voice, and that contagious laugh. You always knew how to brighten up any room. You left us with the most beautiful gift of all. Your son. He has your smile, your giggle, and definitely your quirky personality. You brought so much joy into our family. I still say if only. If only I could hug you one more time and tell you how much I love you. You will always be my sunshine. -Nancy, Melissa’s Mom

I think the thing that stands out the most for me is how strong and smart Melissa was. She never tried to be better than anyone just herself all the time, a lot of people didn’t like that, but I really did. One of my last times with her we watched a movie, just the two of us, and I felt it was her way of trying to say goodbye. You had to be there to understand but it was my favorite alone time with her, my little baby girl. - Robert, Melissa’s Dad

I met Melissa when she was four years old and instantly fell in love with her. She could be the funniest, goofiest girl, but on the other hand, she was totally down to earth, and I cherished our heartfelt talks. I miss her smile, her laugh, but most of all I miss not being able to pick up the phone and call her. It could be to tell her something funny, or just to tell her that I love her and that she was a beautiful person. -Robin, Melissa’s Stepmom

Missy wasn’t only my sister but my best friend. She filled my life with so much laughter. I miss her random calls of giggles and silly stories. I miss her beautiful outlook on life and how she always found the positive in everything she did. As life continues to move forward, I can only imagine how different life would be with her in it. She deserved to be here. She was the most beautiful soul. I miss her and love her deeply. - Kristin, Melissa’s Sister

Even though it is so incredibly hard to navigate life without Melissa by our sides, my favorite surprise is when her son, Mason, makes a face or smiles or laughs just like her. It brings me a little bit of joy to know that she is still living on through him! And the times where her presence is evident, is always when it is needed most! -Kelli, Melissa’s cousin

I am proud to call Melissa my best friend. We met in high school and instantly clicked. I was always very shy, but Melissa was very outgoing and broke me out of my shell. She showed me that it's ok to be yourself and was never judgmental. I will always miss her laugh, and how funny she was. She always lit up the room and would make you laugh on your worst days. I will cherish the memories we shared for the rest of my life. -Jessica, Melissa’s Best Friend

What can I say about Melissa other than my heart misses her so very much. Melissa was a daughter to me in so many ways. She is the one who makes the words, “Family doesn’t need to be blood” true. Her memory comes to us always through her son Mason as she left us a truly special young man and she will forever be with us through him. -Laurie, dear family friend

Mel and I grew up together and were best friends. We were inseparable. We instantly connected. Her smile was infectious. Sometimes when she would laugh, I would laugh, not because I knew what was funny but because every time Mel laughed, I couldn't help but to laugh with her! She was such a joy to be around. She was kind and loved hard! We miss her so much! -Krystal, Melissa’s Best Friend
