Back2Basics is a program designed to educate school-age youth on how to develop resilience skills such as:

  • Self Confidence and Self-Awareness

  • Communication

  • Teamwork and Problem Solving

  • Self-Advocacy

  • Emotions and Self-Expression

 

What is resilience?

Resilience is a variety of skills and coping mechanisms that allow for youth to make it through tough situations in healthy ways.

 

What do resilience skills help youth with?

The goal of the Back2Basics program is to educate and help develop the initial skills associated with resilience in school age-youth. The skills mentioned above can be applied to topics such as:

  • Advocating for themselves

  • How to ask for help (and who to ask)

  • The importance of their words and actions

  • Identifying and expressing different emotions

  • Knowing the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships

  • Encouraging the development of a sense of self

Available Activities
  • Youth friendly handouts

  • Hands-on Activities (centered around building and problem-solving)

  • Art based activities

  • Physically interactive games

In the Schools

All staff have been approved to work in schools by completing the following requirements:

  • Background Check

  • Drug Test

  • Fingerprinting
